Welcome to United Nations Headquarters

The Headquarters of the United Nations is located along the East River in New York City, on 1st Avenue between 45th and 46th Street. This 18-acre site belongs to the Organization's 193 Member States. Your visit to the United Nations begins as you enter the General Assembly building.
Guided and Audio Tours are conducted Monday through Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and last approximately 45 minutes. Audio Tours are also available on week-ends, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (except during the months of January and February).

Raise Your Voice to End FGM: A special concert dedicated to the global efforts to end Female Genital Mutilation

Special Concert to end Female Genital Mutilation The concert, featuring UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and Grammy Award Winner Angelique Kidjo, will take place on Tueday, 28 February 2012 at 7:00 pm in the General Assembly Hall, United Nations Headquarters, New York. Sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations in cooperation with the United Nations, UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) and UNICEF, the concert will be available live and on-demand on Time Warner Cable channel 150 in the New York area. Special invitation for social media fans to attend the concert: if you’re able to travel to New York City on 28 February, pairs of tickets will be made available to selected social media fans who post their support for ending FGM/C on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #endfgm. Kindly note that no funds are available for travel to UN Headquarters. All travel costs must be borne by the ticket holders.

2012 International Year of Sustainable Energy for All

2012 International Year of Sustainable Energy for AllOn 21 January 2011, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2012, with resolution A/RES/65/151, the International Year of Sustainable Energy for All. Energy is central to nearly every major challenge, and opportunity the world faces today. Be it jobs, security, climate change, food production or increasing incomes, access to sustainable energy for all is essential for strengthening economies, protecting ecosystems and achieving equity. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon made sustainable energy one of his five priorities that will guide his second 5-year term.
